In anticipation of Lithuania’s State Day, Linas Adomaitis and the choir “GospelJonai” are sending one of their newest songs, “Ateis diena” (The Day Will Come), to Lithuania from the Vilnius TV Tower.
“Receiving the invitation to greet Lithuania from the Vilnius TV Tower, I accepted without hesitation. Honestly, I even got chills. After all, this is a symbolically significant object: the tallest structure in Lithuania, which our parents defended on January 13,” says singer Linas Adomaitis. “This greeting flies out on the eve of King Mindaugas’ coronation day and also marks the 100th anniversary of the Lithuanian Song Festival in Vingis Park! And from the TV Tower, Vingis Park fits in the palm of your hand. Let this be another symbol that we must all hold and protect our national identity in our hands: language, Lithuanian song, unity.”
Linas Adomaitis recorded this song and performs it in the video clip together with the Gospel choir “GospelJonai” from St. John’s Church in Vilnius. The performer chose an unusual location for the video recording – he performed the song at the edge of the TV tower, 170 meters high. “All my life, I thought I was afraid of heights, but during this filming, I realized that height is my good friend. However, I won’t lie – sitting on the edge of the TV tower’s cup produced enough adrenaline for several concerts ahead,” Linas laughs.
The Vilnius TV Tower also greets Lithuania with this meaningful song on King Mindaugas’ coronation day and the jubilant Song Festival in Vilnius. On this occasion, the Tower is illuminated with green light every evening.
Tomorrow, on July 6, the Telecentras will traditionally raise the largest national flag (540 sq.m.) in the country on the tower. The flag, weather permitting, will fly until the final concert of the Song Festival in Vingis Park concludes.
